TWO SUSANS

SONG CYCLE

Two sisters, one in Glasgow and the other in Toronto, receive a letter from their recently deceased mother. In it, she reveals their existence, apologises for not telling them when she was alive, and hopes they can forgive her and become close. They learn that she was a victim of forced adoption in Glasgow’s cold and judgmental 1950s. The sisters start writing to each other, sharing, arguing, and exchanging words that are both loving and hurtful. Ultimately, they arrange to meet in person to heal the past and shape a better future. Told with humour, emotional heft, and presented with a nod to Glasgow's grand music hall tradition.
